The 2018 All-Christian Conference held in Montenegro on 13th May was a dream-come-true for local pastor and TEN partner, Daniel Stracinski.

For several years his heart had burned with a longing to host the annual national conference in his home city of Bar, in southwest Montenegro.

Pastor Nebojsa Savic from neighbouring Serbia was the guest speaker on the topic of healthy relationships. His talks on the areas of marriage, church and society were interwoven with group discussions. Around 120 believers met together in the lovely Franca Hotel conference suite for the morning and afternoon sessions.

Throughout the day there were plenty of refreshments and an appetising lunch. However, the overwhelming feeling was one of fellowship in God’s presence. Alongside the conference there was a children’s programme supported by willing helpers. The conference was well supported by evangelical church leaders and mission representatives, including Operation Mobilisation who helped to organise the conference. Also present was a group of Christians from the Roma community. It was estimated that around half of all believers from across Montenegro attended the event coming from churches in Podgorica, Niljsic, Budva, Kamenari and Bar. Bob Northey (TEN Communications Officer) and his wife, Margaret were also delighted to attend as part of their holiday in this idyllic destination.

It’s hard to imagine the significance of the conference given the scarcity of evangelicals in Montenegro. The opportunity to come together for just one day represents the largest Christian event likely to take place in the country. Despite the isolation, pastors encourage unity and local churches are growing with innovative ways being found to share the good news of Jesus. After many years of prayer and effort, Christian Fellowship Mosaik Church has recently been officially recognised by the authorities as an authentic church.
