Easter will again be celebrated by the western church this weekend and millions will respond to the proclamation ‘Christ is risen’ with the answer, ‘He is risen indeed’. The trustees, ambassadors, staff and volunteers at TEN wish to send Easter greetings to all our 70+ partners spread across 15 European nations.
On Easter Sunday we will send our greetings to partners in their own languages using Twitter @TEN_Today and Facebook (Transform Europe Now). We’ve also made a short video to capture the diverse voices of our partners as we join in Easter celebrations.
We fully appreciate that many partners follow the earlier Julian calendar of the Orthodox church and wait to celebrate Easter Sunday (Pascha) on 1st May, shortly after the Jewish Passover.
Easter was the first Christian festival established by the church and replaced the pagan festival ‘Eostre’. In 325 AD the Council of Nicaea established that Easter would be held on the first Sunday after the first full moon occurring on or after the Spring equinox.
Celebrating the atoning death, burial and joyous resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ fills our hearts with love and adoration. As Christians we join together to celebrate Easter in 2016 and thank God for his faithfulness and blessing on the work of Transform Europe Now.
